Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore!

Two legendary songwriters will share the stage at The Gold Room for one special evening, Thursday, March 23, trading songs and stories back and forth during two sets of music.

Dave Alvin, Grammy Award winning singer songwriter and self described “barroom guitarist, is widely considered to be one of the pivotal founders of the current Americana music scene. Since forming the highly influential roots rock/R+B band The Blasters, with his brother Phil in 1979, and throughout his long and critically acclaimed solo career, Dave Alvin has mixed his varied musical and literary influences into his own unique, updated version of traditional American music. Dave Alvin’s songs have been recorded by a who’s who of contemporary roots artists from Los LobosRobert Earl Keen, and Joe Ely to Dwight Yoakam, James McMurtry, and Alejandro Escovedo.

Jimmie Dale Gilmore is best known for his unusual fusion of traditional honky-tonk, Hank Williams-ish country stylings with lyrics influenced by Eastern mysticism and philosophy. In the 1970’s, Gilmore, along with Joe Ely and Butch Hancock, formed the now-legendary Flatlanders. He released two independent label records in the late ’80s before Elektra released his breakthrough album, the critically acclaimed Spinning Around the Sun in 1993. The album made numerous end-of-the-year ‘best of’ lists in the media, and Gilmore’s career was given an extra boost by high profile fans such as David Letterman and Natalie Merchant.

General admission tickets are on sale now for just $20 each or you can get them at the door for $25. There are also a limited number of reserved seats available. Please join us for this very special evening of Americana music!

Stay tuned, because the final reveal of the 2017 talent lineup for the 9th Annual MeadowGrass Music Festival is right around the corner and we can’t wait to share it with you! Don’t forget that weekend early bird passes are only on sale through Friday, March 31, and we are still accepting applications for volunteers at this year’s festival.

In the meantime, we hope that you will plan to support MeadowGrass by eating more chocolate! On Tuesday, March 28, our friends at Cacao Chemistry will be generously donating 10% of sales to Rocky Mountain Highway.

Cacao Chemistry, a locally-owned company, uses fine French chocolate to artfully craft chocolates and confections with nuanced flavors for the discriminating customer. Discover the future of fine chocolate in their retail shop located at 109 N Tejon Street. What could be easier, or tastier! Yum!
