Celebrate Independence with Live Music!

Rocky Mountain Highway is proud to announce that we are partnering with leading local businesses and artists to present two special free concerts over the Fourth of July weekend!

On Friday, July 1, we are excited to present the first of what will hopefully be a series of summer evening outdoor concerts at the Patty Jewett Bar & Grill. Entertainment will be provided by Redraw the Farm, an outstanding local Americana quintet who played a great set at MeadowGrass in 2015 shortly before releasing the excellent country and bluegrass infused album, Whiskey and Holy Water.

The band will set up outside, weather permitting, and the music starts at 9 pm after the city golf course shuts down for the night. Everyone is invited to bring a chair or blanket to spread on the grass, or you can enjoy the music from the bar patio. In the event of inclement weather the band will play indoors.

Then on Independence Day itself, you can jam out to the sounds of top local bands all day at Bliss Studio and Gallery in historic Monument. Roots music aficianados will be very familiar with the all-star lineup, which features bluegrass, blues, country, folk and rock n’ roll from the Joe Johnson Band (starting at noon), Grant Sabin & the Juke Joint Highball (2:30 pm), and Barrel House (5 pm). As if that wasn’t enough, Ryan Flores will be playing ‘tweeners during set breaks and Rocky Mountain Highway volunteers will be on hand selling tasty Pikes Peak Brewing craft beers.

Acclaimed metalsmith artist Jodie Bliss will have examples of her amazing sculptures and fine art on display in her courtyard and studio, which is located just west of Catriona Cellars. The Bliss Studio 4th of July festivities are designed to complement the nearby Tri-Lakes 4th of July Celebration, which includes a pancake breakfast, fun run, parades, street fair, and separate music festival (Wirewood Station, The Inman Brothers Band and Miguel Dakota) that runs from noon until 7 pm in Limbach Park.  There will be something for everyone in downtown Monument. including a fireworks display after dark.

We are busy developing plans for future and activities and hope to have more exciting news to announce next month. In the meantime, we’d love to see you at these two special concerts! If you need other ideas for seeing live music, please check out the Pikes Peak Concert Calendar.

Jam on it,
