Join Us “On The Road to MeadowGrass”!

Rocky Mountain Highway is excited to announce three special concerts leading up to the 8th Annual MeadowGrass Music Festival, which takes place May 27-29 at La Foret Conference & Retreat Center in Black Forest. More bands have been added to the festival lineup too – check out the latest list at the end of this newsletter.

First up, Friends House Concerts will welcome critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Jeffrey Foucault to Skyway on Sunday, April 10.

Jeffrey’s new album, Salt As Wolves, has been getting rave reviews from the media nationwide. You can listen to him talk about the album and play a song live in studio on NPR’s Morning Edition. The doors will open at 6:15 pm with music starting at 7 pm; reservations are strongly encourage so make your $25 artist donation soon.

Later in April we are partnering with our friends in the Black Rose Acoustic Society to bring Yep Roc Records recording artists The Stray Birds back to the Pikes Peak Region following their standout performance at MeadowGrass last year.

The show takes place in the Ivywild School gymnasium on Saturday, April 23, and tickets are just $12 in advance, $17 at the door. Last month the title track from their latest album Best Medicine was named “Song of the Year” by Folk Alliance International. The Birds will share the stage with Michigan’s Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys. The Flatbellys’ performance on Mountain Stage in 2015 made it on to NPR’s list of the 12 best sessions of the year, placing them among such distinguished company as Houndmouth, Father John Misty, Ben Folds, and Alabama Shakes. This is an incredible deal for two outstanding bands!

And, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that singer-songwriter Steve Poltz will conclude the “On the Road to MeadowGrass” concert series with a performance at Friends House Concerts on Saturday, May 14.

The former front man for The Rugburns and Jewel collaborator wowed us at MeadowGrass in 2014 and just laid down an awesome version of the Grateful Dead‘s “Uncle John’s Band” in Kansas City last month. You will not see a more entertaining show, ever. The suggested artist donation is $30 and you can reserve your spot now.  Doors at 6:45 pm, music at 7:30 pm.

Lastly, we are still looking for more volunteers to help out at MeadowGrass and we also have room for additional non-food vendors at the festival. Please help spread the word far and wide!

Have yourself a merry little Easter and get ready for all the great music coming to town!
