Rocky Mountain Highway is on partial hiatus this week because we’ve sent a delegation to Folk Alliance International in Kansas City, where we are busy discovering incredible new artists while reconnecting with friends from The Haunted Windchimes, The Changing Colors, and Colorado Creative Industries, among many others. So in favor of sleep we will dispense with the usual Top 10 format.
However, we would like to make a few salient points in the interim:
(1) The initial list of performers for the 8th Annual MeadowGrass Music Festival is being released this week via social media – so far we’ve revealed that the Jeff Austin Band and Fruit Bats will headline an epic Friday night! Check the MeadowGrass Facebook page each day to see who else is playing or, if you can’t wait, check out this great Reverb column in the Colorado Springs Independent.
(2) We were thrilled to hear that Bela Fleck & Colorado College alum Abigail Washburn snagged a Grammy for Best Folk Album on Monday night – woo hoo!
(4) The great Texas blues artist Carolyn Wonderland will be playing a show at The Gold Room on Friday, February 19 – this concert was booked at the last minute but truly deserves a strong turnout from music lovers in the Pikes Peak Region.
That’s all for this week – check the Pikes Peak Concert Calendar for other entertainment options and make sure to tune in to the Grass Roots Revival on 93.9 FM KCMJ next Tuesday from 2-4 pm Mtn time for a whole heap o’ great new tunes!
