In deference to Dave Letterman – no top ten this week

but we do have…

MeadowGrass Countdown

The Rocky Mountain Highway crew is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the Seventh Annual MeadowGrass Music Festival, which starts in just one week at the beautiful La Foret Conference & Retreat Center in Black Forest!

We want to remind everyone that parking is limited this year and you can either purchase a parking pass for a space close to the festival grounds and camping or select the free remote parking option, which will be located on the back side of La Foret about a fifteen minute walk away from the festivities.  Gates open to campers at 9:00 am on Friday and to the general public at noon.  The gates open at 9:30 am on Saturday and Sunday.

This year we have twenty-one bands performing on the main stage under the big yellow tent, including Blue Rodeo, Stephen Kellogg, Shook Twins, The Ragbirds, HONEYHONEY, The Stray Birds, Roosevelt Dime, Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion, Front Country, WhiteWater Ramble, Reed Foehl, Trout Steak Revival, Clouds & Mountains, Radio London’s Family Elephant, Redraw the Farm, Poet’s Row, Rough Age, Undlin & Wolfe, Roma Ransom, Lazer & Levi, and a special Sunday morning bluegrass gospel set from Briar Branch.

We also have five indoor workshops in the Ponderosa Lodge on Saturday and Sunday, including a drum workshop by The Ragbirds, a harmony singing workshop by The Stray Birds, a bluegrass arranging workshop by Front Country, a groove workshop from Roosevelt Dime, and a kids’ concert by Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion.  The late nights shows feature Briffaut, Woodshed Red and Trout Steak Revival.

Kids’ activities are provided in the meadow on Saturday and Sunday afternoon courtesy of Jim Jackson & the Millibo Art Theater, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and the Theatreworks Children’s Summer Camp crew.   Also, the pool will be open from 1-5 pm Saturday and Sunday weather permitting.  Kiddos 12 and under get in free with a paid adult.  And don’t forget yoga at 10 am Saturday and Sunday morning in Ponderosa Lodge, led by Jessica Patterson of Root Center for Yoga and Sacred Studies, for a suggested donation.

We have amazing food and beverage vendors again this year – Front Range BBQ, Jake & Telly’s, Rasta Pasta, Potato Potato, Castellon Catering, Gypsy Pizzeria, Mountain Pie CO, Radiantly Raw Chocolates, Frost Bites Frozen Yogurt, Indian Summer Kettle Corn, Weezrs Butters, La Foret and The Coffee Exchange.  Non-Food Vendors include KG Artistry (face painting), Sundance Sensations, Flo’s Hula Hoops, Dome Creations, Front Porch Guitars, The E-Bike Store, Photo Love Bus, Colorado Hammock and embodi ohm mehndi henna.  Craft beverages are offered by Bristol Brewing, Sovereignty Wines, Distillery 291 and 3 Hundred Days of Shine.

We still have about 50 weekend passes with camping available for purchase, and also VIP upgrades that include close-in parking, VIP area with private wash facilities, drink tokens, meal coupons, a swag bag and exclusive daily tastings from Bristol Brewing, Radiantly Raw chocolates,  Ranch Foods Direct, Distillery 291 whiskey, 3 Hundred Days of Shine, Sovereignty wines and Mountain Pie CO.

This is sure to be THE BEST MeadowGrass Festival ever – so don’t delay, buy your tickets now on-line or in person at Moondog Music Shop.  Prices will increase when the festival begins.  Unfortunately we don’t have time to count down the Top 10 concerts of the week right now, but if you are looking for live music options please visit the Pikes Peak Concert Calendar.
